Outer Banks Mothering Tent

1610099_237284833128057_4712249883684635733_nOuter Banks Birth Network and the OBX Breastfeeding Bistro provides a Mothering Tent at community events such as OBX Cares, Artrageous, and KidsFest. This quiet place to rock, rest, change, and feed your baby is an oasis for pregnant and breastfeeding  mothers.

Through generous donations in 2014,  we were able to purchase the tent.  Last year we borrowed supplies and this year we are hoping to purchase our very own portable, light weight rocking chairs and more supplies.

We are also looking to upgrade our free lending library with current books on pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding.

Many thanks for your support — and don’t forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Mothering Tent – Donations Needed!

This past February, The Outer Banks Birth Network and the OBX Breastfeeding Bistro hosted a Mothering Tent at the Mommy & Me Parenting Expo, which was held at the Nags Head YMCA. Envisioning a quiet place for mothers to change, nurse, and feed their little ones, it seemed like nice addition to a popular but chaotic family event! For our trial run, we were able to borrow a canopy tent. We outfitted the space with a make-shift changing station, some loaned rockers for nursing, and some popular toys for the wee ones. We really felt this provided a welcome respite for new mothers. It got a lot of attention and served as a great networking opportunity!

Mothering Tent (1)

Since then, we have been invited to bring our Mothering Tent to other community events, including this year’s KidsFest on May 9th.

Our hope is that you will be willing to make a tax-deductible donation to help us secure and outfit our own tent for ongoing participation at community events. Our aim is to collectively raise $500, so any amount could quickly help us reach that goal!

As we have committed to bring the tent to KidsFest on May 9th, we would appreciate a donation as soon as possible so that we may place a timely order the tent!!
